Characteristics of foreign economic relations western border regions of Ukraine in the context of its competitiveness after the entry of neighboring countries in the European Union have been analyzed. The dynamics of investment and economic cooperation of these areas with new EU members has been studied. Recommended need to pay more attention to the development of its external economic capacity, including in the field of cross-border cooperation.
