Resume

The issues of environmental security as one of the main purposes of the National Environmental Policy are outlined. The contradictions between economic prospects and environmental threats of shale gas extraction in some regions of Ukraine are examined. The possibility of development of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency policies as opposed to traditional sources of hydrocarbons is analyzed. The measures to optimize national environmental policy in this direction are proposed.
