The main prognosis indices of Ukrainian Energy Strategy up to 2030 are analyzed. The necessity of its adjustment is stressed due to the fact that this document was compiled in 2005 and during the period of 2006-2008 the real indices of industry development differed from the predicted ones and also with regard to the crisis state of Ukrainian economy. The unreasonableness of significant capacity increasing at the nuclear power plants is substantiated. In view of the above-mentioned, the prognosis of electricity balance of Western region of Ukraine is worked out. The prognosis provides the commissioning of only one unit of 1 GW capacity at Rivne nuclear power plant, the growth of capacities (compared with 2008) at thermal power plants in 1.4 times, at combined heat and power plants – in 1.75 times, at hydroelectric power plants – in 8.5 times, at block-stations and other sources - in 5.2 times, which will increase the capacity manoeuvres in the region and improve the electricity supply conditions.

Within the framework of research of the electricity market conjuncture the electricity price dynamics in the areas of the Western region has been analyzed. The analysis of wholesale prices (costs of purchase of electric power by distribution companies in the Wholesale market of electric energy of Ukraine), and also retail tariffs and methods of their forming has been carried out. In relation to expansion of application of retail tariffs for the electricity consumption management suggestions have been given. This is important especially for the diminishing of deficit of the maneuvering powers in energetics. Such methods of the analysis of the conjuncture, as a method of quantitative comparisons, a method of dynamics rows analysis and a visual graphic method have been used in the research.
