The peculiarities of investment policies of Ukrainian banks are defined in the process of forming of bank capital in terms of economic instability. On the basis of cluster analysis five types of investment policy of domestic banks depending on a share of loan capital in the structure of long-term liabilities are selected – aggressive (risky), soft-aggressive, moderate, moderately conservative and conservative. The fact that the dominant part of Ukrainian banks conducted an aggressive investment policy that negatively affected index of capital profitability in the period of post crises development of the banking system is proven. Recommendations in relation to directions of investment policy of Ukrainian banks directed at modernization of economy are made.
