ResumeIn terms of competition there is a need to ensure the development of the regional consumer market and businesses. The largest shares of the regional consumer market are occupied by trade enterprises and they ensure its stable operation. In order to further develop the regional consumer market it is necessary to investigate the socio-economic status areas of the country and the factors affecting changes in dynamics. Trade enterprises are part of infrastructure of the regional consumer market and ensure its stable functioning. The aim of the study is to determine the importance of specific features and characteristics of operation of the regional consumer market, to study the structure of the regional consumer market, to economically diagnose the regional consumer market by assessing the economic activities of trade enterprises, to propose a typology of regional consumer market, to justify the directions of the regional consumer market and trade enterprises. The author uses complex methods to determine the prospects of regional consumer market and economic diagnostic tools to assess the economic indicators of trade enterprises. The specific features of the regional consumer market that distinguishes it from other economic systems are determined. Features of operation of the regional consumer market in the current economic relations are outlined. The structures of the regional consumer market are investigated. Economic diagnosis of the regional consumer market through economic evaluation of trade enterprises is conducted. It was established that the regional consumer market should be further development through a combination of a favorable competitive environment management, effective functioning of trade enterprises, stable dynamics of socio-economic indicators of Ukraine’s regions and infrastructure market development. A typology of regional consumer market factors to ensure its development and efficiency of the trade enterprises is determined. The directions of the regional consumer market and trade enterprises development in a competitive environment by elaborating economic development strategy, the combination of the economic potential suppliers and trade enterprises and forming effective relationships between local producers and trade enterprises are defined.
