Situation in the sphere of employment in Odessa region, including by the possibility of population participation in the process of labour and by labour hours is analysed. The issue of creation and liquidation of workplaces in Odessa region, which is the base for employment maintenance, is considered. The basic tendencies in employment of Odessa region are exposed. Perspective directions of regional employment improvement are outlined taking into account the measures introduced on regional and state levels.
