The existing diagnostic systems of the some spheres of plants have been analyzed, the conditions, problems and difficulties of their using have been determined. The necessity of the formation of universal matrix model of aim choice of the representative indicators of the machine-building plants activity has been substantiated, the main conceptual principles of its construction and using have been stated. The indicators of the plants activity estimation have been systematized and classified for industrial, technological-property, cadre, social, financial, material-supply, marketing, time, general economical, specific and foreign activity, characteristics of product and capitalization. The partial and concrete aims of diagnostics of different subjects of the analysis have been determined.
